You Can Help Maintain Your Furnace’s Efficiency

November 10, 2021

Your furnace has likely been hard at work already, but it’s never too late to give it a little boost! There are a few ways you can help your furnace perform efficiently and reliably throughout the remainder of the heating season, and we’d like to share them with you now!

Here are a few ways you can help keep your furnace in proper condition:

Take time to clean the furnace. Dirt and debris can accumulate on the equipment, and this can negatively impact the airflow and efficiency of the system. Wiping down the exterior of the furnace with a damp cloth and using a vacuum to clean accessible areas are enough to make a difference!

Changing the air filters will also help to improve airflow, which prevents it from being overworked and causing heating and repair costs to rise as the efficiency decreases and wear and tear increases.

Stay on top of your fuel deliveries in order to avoid running out of fuel, which is not only a problem for your comfort but can cause issues internally for the fuel storage tank and the equipment. Consider signing up for automatic deliveries to lessen the risks!

While there are tasks you can perform to help with maintenance, a professional tune-up is irreplaceable! Schedule equipment maintenance with Stafford Oil & Propane as soon as possible to ensure your furnace is in good shape.

"We have been with Stafford for years. Had an issue with the furnace and we had a next day appointment (could have been same day but I had to reschedule). Tech called when he was on route and fixed the problem. Matt (the tech) was courteous and took the time to answer my questions so I would have a better understanding of how our furnace works and what I can do for "self service". My dad always says "you get what you pay for" and I feel we are getting a great value for our dollar."
