How to know When It Is Time for an upgrade
Is your heating system struggling to pull its weight this year? It could be time to upgrade your equipment! There are a few things to consider when deciding whether or not an upgrade is necessary, and we’d like to share them with you now.
A lot can change over time, including the technology used in air conditioning equipment. If you’re using an AC from more than a decade ago, you could be missing out on some of those advancements, including better comfort control and overall coverage.
Frequency of Repairs
A car is considered totaled when the cost of repairs exceeds the car’s value. This same train of thought can be applied to your air conditioning system equipment! When you start throwing money at your AC equipment to keep it running and it’s exceeding the amount you could spend on a new AC system, total it!
Although this can be a result of dusty vents or dirty and clogged air filters, weak airflow can also come about when the equipment has been in service for many years. If regular maintenance doesn’t help, an upgrade certainly will.
This is a big one – does it cost you more this year to run your AC than it did last year? Or the year before? If your cooling costs are increasing over time even with proper maintenance, the age of the system could be causing a drop in energy efficiency. Luckily, modern AC systems boast much higher efficiency ratings!
